Fellows are required to begin their research within five months of receiving the official fellowship award notification. In cases of extraordinary circumstances, researchers may request a postponement of the project start date; however, such requests must be approved by the Steering Committee (SC) and cannot exceed six months in total. 

If the selected main candidate is unable to initiate the fellowship, the opportunity will be offered to candidates on the reserve list. These candidates will be informed of their final status before the next call is published to ensure timely preparation. 

To initiate the fellowship, selected candidates must upload the required documents to the BİDEB Project Management System (BİDEB PMS) within five months of the support decision. These documents include:

  • Proof of Residence confirming compliance with the mobility rule (e.g., certified employment contract, tax certificate, rental agreement, or utility bills covering at least 3 years)
  • Signed Grant Agreement by the researcher, mentor, and rector (or equivalent authority)
  • Employment Entry Declaration issued by the Social Security Institution (SGK), submitted within 10 business days from the official project start date
  • Ethics Committee Approval, if applicable, obtained from the host institution’s committee or another relevant body

Failure to submit complete or accurate documentation may lead to cancellation of the fellowship, subject to review and decision by the Steering Committee.
